3D TV & Laser TV News 31 Aug 2008 09:07 pm
Coming Soon…Fall 2008
Each of our 3D Ready large-screen DLP HDTV’s feature a slim design, lightweight construction, and energy efficient operation,” said Frank DeMartin, Vice President of Marketing for Mitsubishi. “The first 3D content will be PC video games, followed by movies, then later sporting events and television sitcoms or other broadcasts.”
DeMartin says 3D content is already gaining in popularity and points to the recent theatrical success of movies such as Beowulf, The Hannah Montana 3D Concert, and this summer’s 3D Journey to the Center of the Earth.
Another exciting introduction is Mitsubishi’s LaserVue TV.
“LaserVue will raise the bar for large screen television by delivering twice the color at half the power of today’s HDTVs while at the same time providing an unparalleled 3D viewing experience. Mitsubishi has effectively engineered laser beams to function as the ultimate light engine for this premium large screen television product. Making laser TV a reality represents another history-making milestone in a long legacy of industry firsts for Mitsubishi.”
Look for the 65″ Laser TV - Model L65-A90 to begin shipping to retailers in North America by the end of September (3Q). Details on when it actually goes on sale are not yet known, but speculation is that it might be not be available to buy until after Thanksgiving.
Note: Mitsubishi’s answer to my question for clarification on shipping and availability was “I wish I had more information to provide at this point but please stay tuned. Mitsubishi will be releasing more information within the next 60 days.”

*sigh* No real new information other than yet another predicted date when Laservue should come out. I’ve finally given up on Laservue and purchased a new television today what with all of the Labor Day deals and such. I waited for more than a year for this tv and I couldn’t stands no more. Thanks for nothing Mitsubishi, Samsung has my money now.

Wait… the article says at the end of September, not November. I’m still a ways off from buying a new tv so not so worried, but I am getting impatient. I want the first generation to come out already so they can start working on the second generation of (hopefully) smaller tv’s. 65″ is too big for my set up.
The 3D thing was new information for me though. Kinda cool, not sure how it works or how it’s different from regular tv’s.

wow - straight from mitsubishi’s mouth. the lack of information is great for stifling hype - you’d think their marketing team would understand that.

Yeah I waited forever for this tv as well, I too just bought a new Samsung and not going to lie I’m lovin it. I might upgrade in a few years when this tv actually comes out but I couldn’t wait any longer, no info, no price, and no release date.

Until there is an extensive 3rd party review published, this TV is still not real. If they are going to start shipping TVs to retailers in 3-4 weeks, they should have preview models that the reviewers can get now. Why the delay?

WARNING!!! I installed Google Chrome web browser today. When I looked at this website afterwards (I check the page almost daily) I got a notice that a flash plug-in was needed to display all of the page correctly. My virus scan software (Vipre) has now detected that this flash-player plug-in is actually Trojan-downloader.win32.hanlo.t and is a very high risk and should be removed immediately. I do not know if it is coincidence that I also installed Google Chrome web browser at the same time that this occurred or even if it is related.

@lee
thanks for the information - i will double check all our code and see if anything got in. we here at laser-tv.org NEVER want to spread viruses or other malware, but we’ve seen a recent spike in hackers injecting code into other websites.
thanks for the info - if you find out anymore info, please let us know.
best,
laser-tv.org staff

Laser TV org staff. Thanks for making this site available for us. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be, from your end, to have so little information on a “game changing” product. Even so close to its “launch date”. Something ain’t stirring the kool aid with this tv. I hope it is just bad marketing and not all hype no real substance once it comes out.

I received emails from the Mitsubishi laser tv website yesterday. They have more info on the site now about the upcoming release, more pics, and product stats. They even say that the TV will be wall mountable (yes!)

What’s with the blue lights on the front? I think they’ll be distracting for serious viewing. Also, Mitsubishi’s new LCD and DLP sets have a nicer shape than the sculpted bottom on the Laservue. At the very least, I hope the blue lights can be turned off.
